Having traveled around Italy many times on the train, looking for the best Italian food in the back streets of Venice, Rome, Florence, we became familiar with the aroma, the textures and tastes of fine Italian home cooking. So when we found this gem of a restaurant on Maui called ” The Pour House” in a town called Kapalua, we were pleasantly surprised how much it reminded us of our trip to Italy. If you are staying at the Ritz Carlton Resort, this Italian Restaurant is a beautiful 5 minute walk from your room. Surrounded by giant pine trees all along the bath that usually has a gentle breeze so you can often smell the sweet aroma of nature. The mood lighting along the pathway is very romantic, that gives you an easy pathway to great food. The Pour House has a impressive wine room with many wines from around the worlds vineyards you will definitely love.
The entertainment sets the perfect ambiance from very talented Maui musicians who often accept song requests as you enjoy dining until the late evening. The chef at the Pour House certainly knows what he’s doing and understands all the traditional flavors I have come to know very well from my travels to Italy. I had seafood pasta dish in a delicious red sauce packed with flavor with plenty of fresh fish, muscles, clams, squid, shrimp and my partner had a white wine pasta with clams. The bread and salad before the meal was perfect especially when you have crushed garlic, with olive oil & vinegar the dip your bread into. We took a few pictures for you, although it’s difficult to capture the true amazing flavors of this food from one of the best places to eat on maui.
